Why we do what we do
Each of us has our own small art or craft business, where we produce original hand crafted items. Together, as Caldbeck Crafters Co-operative Ltd we run our shop and gallery at Priests Mill in Caldbeck, in the Northern Fells of the Lake District National Park.
Being a co-operative enables us as a group to have the combined power to access premises and permanently display our work to the public, in a way that individually can be difficult. By operating this way, your purchases are directly from the maker. 100% of the money paid goes to them, with no commission to payable to a third party, and the company itself is non-profit making.
Furthermore, we as members can talk to customers, discuss commissions and enjoy the support of like minded creative people, and the sharing of ideas and experience. We are registered as a co-operative mutual society limited company.
For you as a visitor, we offer you the opportunity to see a unique wealth of talent, meet the makers personally, as well as support small local businesses. Every sale counts, no matter how small, and you can buy a one of a kind memento of a trip to the Lake District or that perfect gift for a special someone, you know that no one else will buy.

Thanks for your support and we look forward to welcoming you to Priests Mill, Caldbeck very soon.
